The 2-finger double tap on my 5S with iOS 8.1 works as it always has. The only occasional problem is that when I am listening to an Audible book or other audio and a call comes in, the 2-finger double tap sometimes resumes audio playback instead of answering the call. This doesn’t happen often and has been a bug since the first iOS 8 Beta in June. I also have an iPod Touch Fifth Gen and it also works fine there, e.g. I can play/pause, use it in an edit field to start and stop dictation and so on.
