The only advice I have is to make sure that the cable is approved by Apple
and that the connections are good sturdy ones. I've have cheap and
inexpensive cables fray at the connections. Error messages will crop up,
data won't get reliably transferred, and it just isn't worth wasting your
money on them. If at all possible, I would check the cables out at a store
before buying.
