I finally figured that out today and reached the delete action item, then
double tapped, but all the U2 songs are still there. I tried doing it with
artists selected and deleting the whole album and also by selecting songs and
deleting each one- no luck. Although there is a download button by each song,
they are really downloaded because they play immediately.

You need to be certain the rotor is set to "Actions."

Subject: Get rid of U2 album- any old way?

The U2 album is on my phone but I cannot delete it in iTunes with the phone
connected. The archives quoted someone saying to remove it this way on the
phone,

"just go to music, artists and u2. Then flick up with 1 finger to get to delete
and double tap."

But swiping up with one finger only moves me between artists. What more
specifically needs to happen? (Using ios8.1)
