I can’t make air-drop work either. I have iphone 5C with iOS 8.1 and macbook air late 2010 with Yosemite. Bluetooth is on and I have air-drop open on my macbook air but the devices don’t see each other. I’ve given up for now. Some have commented on the list that the mac computer has to be of a newer model, and there’s been a discussion of how new it has to be, others have mentioned the type of bluetooth. Hey ho!
