Sounds like you want to recalibrate your battery. Charge it up to 100%, then use the phone until your battery actually runs out completely and the phone shuts down. Then charge it up again to 100% (preferably over night when you are not using it) and repeat the discharge until it turns off. Then charge up one more time and see if the behavior corrects itself.
