Hello David,

I wonder if your issue has to do with the fact that if you use Skype on an
iPhone you will always show as signed in unless you actually go into the
Settings and sign out of your account which of course means everytime you open
the app you have to sign in with your Skype Id and Password. The reason why
this is so has to do with the ability of Skype to deliver push notifications to
your iPhone if somebody sends you a chat. If you want to receive instant
notifications if somebody sends you a text chat, you can close the app and even
remove it from the app switcher, but that won't actually sign you out and any
chats somebody sends will be pushed to your phone. So, keep in mind that if you
use the /RemoteLogout command these push notifications will stop until you use
the Skype app again, but maybe it will help to clear up your status issue,
worth a try anyways.

Having said all this, there is a way to see where you are signed in and, what's
more, to completely sign you out on all devices by using so-called chat
commands in Skype. These are always proceeded by a "/" (forward slash).
Basically you start a chat (doesn't matter to which contact since they never
see any of what you type as long as it is a valid chat command) and you type in
these commands to get the information or perform certain functions.
I suggest you do this from your PC/laptop and start off with the /ShowPlaces
and /RemoteLogout commands to see where you are signed in and to sign out of
everything so you can start fresh. I am giving examples of this below, but
first some links to articles which give more details what you can do with chat
commands especially if you use group chats.

Managing your group chats like a boss
http://blogs.skype.com/2013/03/08/managing-your-group-chats-like-a-boss

Here is an explanation of the two commands I recommend you try:

/RemoteLogout: Sign out all other instances except the current one. This will
also stop push notifications on all other instances.
/ShowPlaces: Shows all instances/devices you are logged in on, they are
referred to as "end points"

You can also type /help and it Gives you a list of available commands you can
use in the chat you are in. If it's just a chat with one person there are not
too many options, if it is a group chat /help will show more commands.

Example:
I opened a new chat with one of my contacts and used show places and it told me
I was signed in on my laptop which is called Q7, my iPhone 5S and iPod Touch:

/ShowPlaces
System:
You have 3 online endpoints:
{d69ab989-e628-1d39-e6fb-45d7bd8fee43}) Q7 Windows Skype
{0582f6ff-be98-0fc9-be98-42c642c6be98}) Sieghards-iPhone-5S iOS Skype

Example:
I now typed the /RemoteLogout command. It is not shown in the chat history and
nothing obvious happens, but if you did the /ShowPlaces command first and saw
that you were signed in on multiple devices/end points, you can now see the
effect of /RemoteLogout by typing /ShowPlaces again, here is what it looks like
for me, Before it showed me 3 end points, after the RemoteLogout command it
only shows 1 end point which is the laptop I used since it won't sign you out
of whatever device you are using when you type the commands:

/ShowPlaces
System:
You have 1 online endpoints:
{d69ab989-e628-1d39-e6fb-45d7bd8fee43}) Q7 Windows Skype

have you shut down i.e., quit Skype on your PC, via the System Tray,
Skype right-mouse menu, and there activated Quit? Setting your status in
Skype to Invisible is not enough.

Subject: Perplexing skype problem

HI.

I am having a very perplexing Skype problem. I started off with Skype on
a
windows machine, iPad and iPhone. No matter what I seem to do, when I
shut
Skype down on my pc, I get shown as away.

Here is what I have tried.

going offline on all devices,

signing out of all devices, and finally removing Skype from my iDevices.
Still when I quit Skype on my pc which is set to invisible I bounce back
to
away.

Have I removed this app from my apple devices for nothing?

I would like to be able to use Skype on all my devices without having
the
statuses change on their own. I do always make sure the status is the
same
on all devices.

I have even tried unchecking and checking the box that says show me as
away
when inactive. I did this on the windows machine. I have even tried to
set
this to 999 minutes without success.

does anyone have a solution to this problem?.

Dave.
