If I understand the question, you cannot initiate the unlock process with the 
braille display, you have to press a button on the phone.  Once on the unlock 
screen, you can press space with dots 246 to unlock, or activate the unlock  
button.  If you use a passcode, you can enter it and press space with e or 
space with dot 8 to enter it.  So all but the first button press can be done 
with the display.

No, you do have to activate a physical button, since iOS potentially allows for 
connecting more than one Braille Bluetooth device.
