Authy is an app which allows you to setup 2-step also called 2-factor authentication for various accounts and it will generate the codes needed if you prefer this method versus receiving the codes as an SMS message. This is also useful if you travel a lot and potentially use a SIM from another country in which case of course any SMS messages sent to your regular mobile number wouldn't reach you.
