Ok, thanks; ordered the big, look forward to it and hope I'm not
disappointed after all this.
The Big will still fit in a bag, if not a pocket. Not likely to travel with
it far though. I visit the tribe maybe 2/4 times a year.

Rob, I am not an expert on the products, but I believe there were three
products in the Jambox line: Originally there was the Jambox (middle size)
and Big Jambox. They sold for around U.S. $149 and $299. Then came along the
Mini Jambox for $29, I believe. I also am pretty sure the Jambox has since
been discontinued.

I have had the Big Jambox and two of the Jambox devices. I just recently got
my second one because my original developed a problem and could not be
repaired. I found it new, but as discontinued stock, on Amazon for $85. That
seems to be a fair price, but in my opinion, any over that is overpriced. It
does have decent sound and good volume, but I think the product has matured
and you can now get just as good for less. Also, both Jambox devices have
had a very irritating hiss/interference sound when in Bluetooth. You don't
notice it listening to music but it is quite noticeable when using
Voiceover.

As said I did replace my original for $85 because the size and construction
are great for travel. Plus, many of the smaller speakers these days, and
even more than a few of the larger ones, are mono, unless you purchase and
pair two of them. The Jambox is only about 6 inches long, so you will not
get huge separation, but if you have it loud enough, it is noticeable. Also,
it does give a full sound. For travel, the size and solid construction are
great.

It is too bad there are not so many shops left where we can put our hands on
the numerous speakers available. Even where they are sold, they often are in
packaging and not on display to handle and test out the sound. Unless I
hadn't purchased one of these earlier, so knew what I was getting, and
hadn't found it so discounted, no way would I have paid over $100 for one.
There are just too many under that price that match it for function and
form, especially so if you don't insist on them being stereo.

Eric

Subject: JB JamBox?

Hi, can, or will anyone tell me anything about JB JamBoxes?

The ads are confusing just how many variations there are, so difficult to
match prices accurately. I got a 2nd-hand Mini here, not sure how old or
different it is. I probably want the Big model, but want all the tips and
advice I can get before splashing out that much on a little speaker thinghy.

Thanks, RobH.
