Hi Everyone,

Not sure how many multilingual people exist on the list, but as I was
using the iPhone to read a book in Korean, I had a curiosity. I'm
hoping that someone has an explanation for this minor inconvenience. I
use a total of 8 languages on a daily basis to write, read, and browse
the web with VoiceOver. VoiceOver has great support for these
languages! However, when I upgraded to IOS 8, the ability for
instantaneous transition to higher quality variants of the voices that
correspond to the languages is nearly nonexistent. I am aware of the
simple fact that in order for any form of language switching to occur,
one has to have the Default Voice selected. As an example of this very
small issue, the other day, I received a document that had some parts
in Mandarin, and others in Japanese. As I was reading, I noticed that
VoiceOver switched to the compact version of the Mandarin Chinese
voice, even after downloading its corresponding high quality version.
Interestingly, however, after making the decision to make an explicit
change in the VoiceOver settings to the language in question, an
immediate difference was noted. That is, the higher quality voice
spoke, rather than its compact variant. I'm becoming a bit too
detailed in my simplistic inquiry, but as this wasn't an issue in IOS
7, I thought to ask to see if anyone had an explanation or a fix for
this minor inconvenience. I would appreciate any replies to this
topic.

Thank you.
