Sorry, Anna, your messages were hitting the spam folder and, along with others, they've only just been discovered!:)
Thanks for your good explanation below. I can fully understand this aspect now and feel much more confident to change some items to get them just where I want/need them! The below article does a good job of explaining tagging basics: 0was 0was http://www.macworld.com/article/2047675/itunes-tagging-basics-and-tips.html 0was 0was Alan Lemly 0was 0was -----Original Message----- 0was From: [email protected][mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Thom Spittle 0was Sent: Friday, November 14, 2014 11.37 AM 0was To: [email protected] 0was Subject: RE: ITUNES 12, Still Not SUCCEEDING--more HELP, PLEASE! 0was 0was Hey Carol 0was This explaination might help. 0was Your songs are on your computer. iTunes just points to the song. If you delete a song from your playlist, it stays in your main music library, and on your computer. But, it will come off of your phone when you sync it the next time. 0was Even if you delete a song from the main music library, it's still on your computer. 0was You can even go to your music through windows explorer and control c to copy, then go to iTunes and when you are looking at your playlist, hit control v and it will add it to your playlist and to the mail music library. 0was In fact, my wife has a folder on her computer that contains all of the songs she wants on her phone, and I can select them all were control A), copy them (control c), then paste them (control v) to her playlist in iTunes. It will not duplicate the songs she already has in there, since the path is the same. 0was 0was As to your question about the album, If you are focused on it, you should be able to hit F2 and it will ask you to rename the item. Just like in Windows explorer. 0was 0was Hope this helps, 0was Thom 0was ,t;[email protected] 0was From: [email protected][mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of ,c;arol.,p;[email protected] 0was Sent: Friday, November 14, 2014 7.57 AM 0was To: [email protected] 0was Subject: Re: ITUNES 12, Still Not SUCCEEDING--more HELP, PLEASE! 0was 0was I've now heard the podcast and got it into my mind how useful those keystrokes can be. 0was 0was I hadn't realised though that, now I've made a playlist then added it to my phone as a playlist, I now have an album which (because it's in the Complilations (the Best of) in Itunes it doesn't show up under the artist's name. The rest in that playlist do show up correctly. Must I live with this or can I do anything to show that this album is by a certain artist? 0was 0was In addition, if I choose to delete the playlist from my phone or computer, do I keep the tracks and artists intact on the phone and computer? 0was 0was I'd like to understand a little more on this so that I make the right choices. 0was 0was Thanks for any further additional explanations you or anyone else can give on this senario. 0was 0was Carol P 0was 0was 0was >>> ----- Original Message ----- >>> From: Thom Spittle >>> To: [email protected] >>> Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 7.00 PM >>> Subject: RE: ITUNES 12, Still Not SUCCEEDING--more HELP, PLEASE! >>> >>> Start by pressing control 1 to make sure that you are in the music library. >>> Next, press control F to go to the search box. >>> Hit F6 and this will bring you to a tree view. >>> Arrow down until you get to your playlist. >>> F6 until you get to the list of songs in the playlist. >>> >>> Thom >>> >>> From: [email protected][mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf >>> Of ,c;arol.,p;[email protected] >>> Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 1.15 PM >>> To: [email protected] >>> Subject: Re: ITUNES 12, Still Not SUCCEEDING--more HELP, PLEASE! >>> >>> Hi Tom, >>> >>> OK.
