I have my iPhone plugged in at all times unless I'm going somewhere. Or, if
not plugged in, I have it turned off.
If you let the battery run completely down, it should come on within a few
minutes after plugging it in. Just figure that it's going to run down if
you leave it turn on while not plugged in.

Subject: Battery run down completely
I had the auto lock set on never rather than my usual two minutes and when I
went to turn on my iPad this morning, it would not start. I tried to use
the voiceover and that did not work so my only clue that my battery had
completely run down was a visual representation on the screen. What is the
work around for this situation if you can not see the screen and your
battery has completely run down. How do you realize what has happened if
the voiceover is not able to be activated. Thank you.
