Using a headset may help in terms of hearing Voiceover over your call. If my
keypad is hidden I usually touch just above the home key and find the End Call
button, then I swipe left until I get to keypad or you can just touch the phone
about where the volume down button is and you should find the keypad button
there. The following is a list of the buttons you have on the screen during a
call if the keypad is hidden (that is from top to bottom):

Name/number for your call
Time elapsed
Mute
Keypad
Selected, Speaker
Add Call
Facetime
Contacts
End Call

I put "selected" in front of Speaker because this is what Voiceover says if
speakerphone is active, it will just say "Speaker" if it is not, e.g. if you
are using a headset.
If you touch End Call above the home key, you would have to swipe left 5 times
to get to the Keypad button.

I hope this helps, sometimes I find it much easier to find something if I know
what is there and I can visualize what the screen layout looks like.

Regards,
Sieghard

If she checks near the call end call button, there is a button to show keypad.
It is a bit challenging to hear the numbers over the instructions from the
service you are calling.
If it is a place she calls regularly, and the options are consistant, you can
program them into the phone number.
Edit the phone number in the contacts, then at the lower left of the keypad
there is a shift key, double tap that, or if she is using touch typing, just
touch and lift, then just above that she will find a comma. Each comma
represents a pause. It seems to be about 3 to 5 seconds, I'm not exactly sure.
So put in one or more commas, then the number that needs to be pressed and so
on.
It may take a little trial and error, but once it is working, you don't have to
mess with trying to enter numbers while listening to the recorded menu.

HTH,
Richard

Subject: making a phone call

A friend of mine is frustrated because she wants to make phone calls
where there is a "tree" which means you have to push numbers to get
where you want to go in the menu on the call. She can't find the
numbers to push when she is on the call; and I rarely do this on my
phone. Doesn't she have to have her keypad showing to do that and how
can she get it to show up once she has enter the call with the options
she needs to do?
Thanks,
Patti
