I ran into something I have no idea about whatsoever this morning; after opening Settings/Phone I activated the "SIM PIN" button and attempted to input the required code -- mistakenly thinking it is the same code as my 4-digit unlock code .

After entering my "Unlock Code" several times I noticed that a count was decrementing toward 0 but I foolishly continued with this hapless endeavor. Once that count did hit 0 I got a message that I needed to contact my carrier to get the PUK Code.

I've done that, but now what do I do with this information? Can anybody tell me where I need to go on my iPhone 6 to enter in this "PUK Code?"

And what in the world is the purpose of locking/unlocking the SIM?
