You who want to read tablature should check out LunarPro, a project designed to make guitar tabs accessible. It can process files in Guitar Pro and Power Tab formats. It works with NVDA (not particularly JAWS) and VoiceOver for the Mac.

Since it is just numbers of strings and frets, I'm not sure how you would make good sense of it with a screen reader. I haven't used it extensively recently, but the developer did work on accessibility last spring, and most of it is accessible.
