If it’s the original iPad Mini (the one released prior to 2013) Alex is not an option as you can only have Alex on iOS devices which have a 64 Bit processor and at this point that is the A7 processor which came out last year and which is in the iPhone 5S, the iPad Mini Retina and the iPad Air. Of course Alex also works on all 2014 releases with the A8 processor like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini Retina second generation although it did not get the A8 processor.
