Also remember that input and output are now separated in iOS 8. Space-g now controls output while space-236 controls input. Both of these are three-way cycles through six-dot, eight-dot and contracted.
As for eight-dot or six-dot, neither will give you contracted braille though there may be instances when one or the other is preferred. Only "contracted" gives you contracted braille and it is input space-236 that allows you to type in contracted braille or six-dot or eight-dot but the output depends on space-g. -- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
