Hope, I am not exactly sure if this is what you are talking about, but, there are times that people send a group message to me. Maybe one of the people is in my contact list, but, the rest of them are only friends of the person sending the message. I search for the friend's name in my contacts. They will show up as a single contact, and, then, also as a group. When I find the group, I flick to the right, and it says, more information. I click on that, and that is where I am able to delete the group. I hope this helps you.
