Highlights

And we're back from the KVM Forum in Edinburgh, Scotland! Although reviews were a bit slow, things will get better once we are back to work. There was a fair bit of discussion during the forum and the ideas laid out there will soon affect the way virt test and autotest are developed. We are still coming up with the proposals, more formal announcements will follow with the principles better laid out.

Commits on next - autotest

During KVM Forum, we worked on fixing the last bugs that were on the way of getting autotest documentation generation on readthedocs.org. With the bugs fixed, here's a preliminary attempt at autotest documentation:

https://autotest.readthedocs.org/en/api-doc2/index.html

Also, a new patch from Rajeev S was accepted that makes autotest-local take additional params with test directories.

Cleber Rosa (1):
functools_24.py: do not rely on internal python module implementation details

Lucas Meneghel Rodrigues (2):
version: If not possible to figure version, fall back to "unreleased"
client.shared.version: Use iso tag instead of 'unreleased'

Rajeev S (1):
autotest-local: Specify test directory as a command line option

Commits on next - virt-test

Virt Test 2013.10.30 was released yesterday, with 70 new commits, covering:

 * QEMU: Support for multiqueue macvtap
 * QEMU: Add msix vectors support
 * QEMU: Add qemu sandboxing option
 * libvirt: Add secret XML parser module
 * libvirt: New stress migration tests
 * v2v: Default test run fixes and reorganization
 * guests: Add Ubuntu Server 13.10
 * guests: Add SLES 11 SP3 for PPC

Once again, our 'continuous integration' system has been instrumental in maintaining the stability of the code being added to the development branch, thus helping us to release regularly.

Since virt-test 2013.10.30, we had patches, mostly bugfixes to the virt-test networking support code, as well as numerous tweaks and fixes to Windows tests.

Li Yang (1):
virt: Ignore exception detail if debug is False

Pull requests still in review

Autotest

https://github.com/autotest/autotest/pull/759 -> Make the autotest client to do better cleanup when running on NFS shares. A better solution was suggested by Cleber, and the author should update the PR.

Virt Test

63 pull requests open

https://github.com/autotest/virt-test/pulls

Currently going through the list of open PR and following up. The idea is to leave the list in a better state (read less pull requests), since we plan on making changes to the virt-test maintenance process and that means in practice that I'll have less time dedicated to PR maintenance.

Grid maintenance

Test grids fairly stable, no surprises lately.

Libvirt updates
Spent lots of time reviewing tests during KVM Forumn
Many tests are at or nearing 'ready-to-merge' status
I continue to see good cross-collaboration happening, and see it's benefits!
Reminder: Keep on top of enforcing good commit messages ("why", not "how")
If you spot one in a review, call the author on it.
it helps if you can suggest a better one, even if author just copy-paste your suggestion, it's better than a short/bad message. Short-term focus now is to get many pull requests closed out, and have community-focus on improving documentation. That includes wiki docs and code docstrings. Every little improvement counts!
This is to give us clean-slate to start work on new maintenance process.
Okay to work on tests or other patches, just keep them private for now.
