vglrun +pr {application}
and check the console for VirtualGL's profiling output. GLXgears is not
a good test, though because the frame rate on that application is
ridiculously fast anyhow. Thus, you can't really tell whether or not
it's being accelerated by VGL. Try
vglrun -sp +pr /opt/VirtualGL/bin/glxspheres
for a better test. In TurboVNC, if a 3D application is running at all,
then that means VirtualGL is working. TurboVNC doesn't have the GLX
extension, so without VirtualGL, it won't be able to run 3D apps.
How are you using VGL with Xming? Are you running VGLclient and Xming
on the client machine? I wouldn't think that would perform very well,
since Xming doesn't have the MIT-SHM extension.
