I don't know if my question is clear so I'll explain the use case.
I have a remote server myCoolServer with great rendering capabilities. It is
running kde but sometimes (often) no user is physically logged on it (so the
server is waiting for a user to start an X session.
Besides I am in a foreign country, so I can't just go to that server and log
myself in. Still I can do remote login via ssh. I am using FreeNx on top of
it actually. But to simplify let's consider I use
>> vglconnect myCoolServer
Then when I want to use vglrun to launch glxgears I get
>> vglrun glxgears
[VGL] NOTICE: Automatically setting VGL_CLIENT environment variable to
[VGL] 138.195.8.100, the IP address of your SSh client.
No protocol specified
[VGL] ERROR: Could not open display :0.
So my guess is that vgl needs a running x session on :0.
Is that true? Aren't there any work around for that?
I hope one can help me on that because I'm stuck on it for days, and it's
not te first time that happens.
Cheers,
Loïc
