Configure your X server using the following command line: nvidia-xconfig -a --use-display-device=None --virtual=1280x1024 This will allow the X server to start. EC2 has GPU machines with NVIDIA Tesla "Fermi" M2050 GPUs in them. I'd like to use one of these machines as the VirtualGL server. My understanding is that to do this, I need to start X.org on display :0. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get X.org to start on a headless machine. The error it keeps throwing is "no screens found" with the message: "No devices detected". The solutions to this problem found on Google usually say to use VNC instead of Xorg on a headless machine, but for VirtualGL that won't work. Is there a good way to get this to work? Either by tweaking Xorg to start headless using the nvidia driver, or through some non-Xorg solution?
