Along the same lines, I've bulk loaded dbpedia in to a few virtuoso six instances now whilst doing demo's and prototypes etc (on low spec servers) and have found that when you can, it makes sense to put the number of buffers as high as you can without pushing it in to swap for the duration of bulk loading - normally ~70% of RAM.

also killing any services you're not using at the time (especially things like mysql with large caches).

Best,

Nathan

Hi Benedikt,

As Alexander indicated in his response you should look at the amount of system
resources, memory etc the Virtuoso Server has been configured to use. I have
added a note to the RDF Bulk loader Wiki page point to the Virtuoso RDF
Performance Tuning Guide which details how to configure Virtuoso for best
performance on a system:

        http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/dav/wiki/Main/VirtBulkRDFLoader

Hopefully this will make others aware of the need to tune the server prior to
the loading and hosting of large datasets ...

Hi everyone,
I tried to import the dbpedia-dump into my Virtuoso, but everytime the import
stops after about 12 million Tripels. To import the dump I used the
RDF-Bulk-Loader
(http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/dav/wiki/Main/VirtBulkRDFLoader ).
The import of Linkedmdb works without any problems.
I’m using Virtuoso version: 06.01.3127.
Has anybody an idea how to import the Data?
