Hi Nico,

As Tim suggested in his response to you, if the JDBC driver is being used then 
you should be able to simply set the timeout with "set result_timeout =<value>" 
 such that SPARQL queries only run to that period of time max after which 
partial results available will be returned, as works from isql and is how the 
JDBC Driver which is another SQL interface should behave:

$ /opt/virtuoso/bin/isql oplusbench1:1111
Connected to OpenLink Virtuoso
Driver: 06.01.3127 OpenLink Virtuoso ODBC Driver
OpenLink Interactive SQL (Virtuoso), version 0.9849b.
Type HELP; for help and EXIT; to exit.
SQL> set result_timeout = 2000;

Done. -- 336 msec.
