This isn't a commercial installation. It's just an evaluation at the moment. 
Different customer. :-)

No, what I mean is that I don't have the Services applet in the control panel 
at all. Having fooled around a bit I now found out that on this version of 
Windows (whichever one it is), I had to open Administrative Tools in CP, then 
Services.

I see OpenLink License Manager (started) and OpenLink Virtuoso Server.

Starting the Virtuoso Server service worked just fine. 

Apologies for this. It's just a case of me not being used to Windows. :-(

Anyway, thank you for the help. You misunderstanding what I meant about 
Services helped me figure out that my computer *does* have that applet, and 
that I need to keep hunting. :)
