Depends on how you configured (see ./configure --help)
Default PREFIX is /usr/local
sysconfdir defaults to PREFIX/etc
visdnhwconfdir is $sysconfdir/visdn and that is
finally the place for the device* files.

So if your visdn_configurator resides in /usr/local/sbin
you should put the device configuration files in 
/usr/local/etc/visdn unless you did some fine tuning
of directories. But then you should know about it yourself.
