never mind.
i started * like:
su asterisk -c /usr/sbin/safe_asterisk
so * never has any privileges to keep ;)
didn't know there is a -U and -G option for asterisk
thanx anyway.. working and testing in production now ;)

The implementation is fine. You have to apply the patches found in the visdn
samples directory to asterisk.
