Thank you for the follow up response, however the workaround as mentioned in the technical note http://www.visualsvn.com/support/topic/00056/ does not resolve the problem with linux client running on Debian (Sqeeze version 6.0.3). However upgrading the test environment to 2.5.3 from 2.5.1 resolved the issue, can the upgrade be performed safely on the SVN server. I would appreciate your response.
