Indeed I recall someone making a comment in the Amsterdam '93 plenary using vat
<http://ee.lbl.gov/vat/>.
I don't remember which IETF it was but it was in the US, where a plenary
included a voip demonstration by serious voice audience participation from
Germany and Australia, as I recall. This was my first sense of how profoundly
things were going to be able to change.
