I think you only need the RMSMASTR portion of DFSMS/VM. You need a SFS server for VMSYS filepool - was a requirement when we did this a few back. Then configure the following files in for example: VMSYS:DFSMS.CONTROL
RMCONFIG DATA - list devices
DGTVCNTL DATA - basic config file
DGTVAUTH DATA - list authorized users

Hi, gang.
How doe one share an IBM 3494 ATL (configured to support virtual tapes)
between z/VM 5.1 and z/OS, each running in it's own LPAR? I suspect I
need DFSMS/VM on the z/VM side.
Any hints, configuration setup, documentation pointers, etc. will be
greatly appreciated.
