You should also avoid characters with special meanings, such as # and @ and ", 
unless you've globally turned them off in the SYSTEM CONFIG file. Look for 
Character_defaults in SYSTEM CONFIG.

I think that our exit will not allow those. There are about 15 that are 
printable characters that could be allowed. This includes neither of yours, nor 
the ones advised against by IBM, nor the space. I probably shouldn't include 
hex 05, either. I don't know what would happen when a Tab is entered.
