I have been using flashcopy for some interm backups that I restore from, also using flashcopy.
So, if I have been using device 150, and I do a flashcopy from 1150 to 150, what happens to the MDC contents for 150? There may be two unique cases for this, 1. Using the FLASHCOPY command. OK now CP may know what is going on. 2. Using the Web interface to the DS6800. Perhaps it sends something to CP to tell it to invalidate the MDC for this device? Anyway, I haven't hit any problems yet, because I've been logging off the guest prior to the flashcopy. But I'm getting to a situation where it would be much easier if I just shutdown the guest, do the flashcopy to restore the image and then IPL 150 again (no logoff/logon). And if it makes any difference anymore, these are full pack minidisks starting at cylinder 1. Thanks Tom Duerbusch THD Consulting
