I know that the performance gain of XCOPY over COPYFILE and XDR over DDR varied. With a 3380/3990, XDR would beat DDR by 4-to-1. With the RAMAC we had, it was more like 2-to-1. With MP3000 internal DASD, the performance is just about 1-to-1. Of course, early versions of COPYFILE had very poor performance compared to more recent ones; I forget where the big change came, but it was some time ago.
