This quarter's meeting will be held at the Hewitt Associates 'East
Campus' located at 100 Half Day Road, in Lincolnshire, IL. We will
meet in the Lower Level Conference Room in Building 98.

Our host site has requested a count of expected attendees by the
Monday before the meeting, so that they can plan appropriately for

9:00 AM VM TCP/IP Routing - Part 1
The speaker will provide detailed information on TCP/IP routing, as
implemented in z/VM TCP/IP. In Part 1, we focus on low-level LAN
communication, ARP, proxy ARP, and IPv4 addressing and subnetting.
This presentation is continued in z/VM TCP/IP Routing - Part 2.
The speaker will be Mr. Alan Altmark of the IBM Corporation.

11:00 AM VM TCP/IP Routing - Part 2
The speaker will provide detailed information on how to configure and
use z/VM TCP/IP's static and dynamic routing functions. In Part 2, we
focus on packet routing, dynamic vs static routing, and Virtual IP
Addressing (VIPA), and z/VM virtual network design. The mysteries of
coding the Gateway and BsdRoutingParms statements for z/VM TCP/IP
will be revealed! While the syntax may be VM, the concepts apply to
all operating systems, including VSE, z/OS, and Linux. This
presentation is a continuation of z/VM TCP/IP Routing - Part 1.

1:30 PM Administration and Vendor Announcements
1:45 PM High Availability and Automatic Network Failover using VSWITCH
z/VM V4.4 introduced significant new function. During this session we
will look at one of those new functions, namely VSWITCH. VSWITCH
allows you to do away with using a virtual router for your Linux farm
and provides direct connection to physical LAN segments for all your
guests. You can also design, configure, and operate your network
using VSWITCH to provide High Availability and Automatic Network
Failover. We will cover how to design and configure a network using
VSWITCH that will survive a failover of a controller virtual machine
and/or the failover of an OSA.

Provisioning Expert of Linux on zSeries helps facilitate server

Ed (MacK) MacKenty is a seasoned UNIX programmer who is applying his
Linux expertise to z/VM. Before joining Rocket Software in 2002, MacK
was principal of his own consulting company specializing in UNIX
design and development. Before that, he worked for Kurzweil Applied
Intelligence on speech recognition systems. As the author of Rocket
Software's Provisioning Expert for Linux on zSeries, MacK hopes to
"take the next step beyond cloning by combining and automating Linux
guest creation, software provisioning and configuration."

the afternoon raffle. You must be present to win.
