The RSCS console should have the failure. When you want to try LPR for the first time, leave off the "ASYNC" option. Then your own virtual machine will try to connect to the remote server instead of having RSCS do it. (Don't worry - the same authorization you gave to linux to allow RSCS will also allow your own virtual machine to connect.) You can then see in real-time what the problem is.
