I cannot reproduce your problem on either z/VM 5.1.0 or z/VM 5.2.0. What platform are you sending from? I would expect the date and time on the
file to be the current date and time, regardless of the original data on the file. At least that is what I see doing: ftp node userid password cd ackerman rdr put profile.exec quit rdrlist receive / profile exec2 (Putting the file in my own reader.)
