Just a heads-up to a known problem if you run VMSECURE in a 2nd-level
guest, you're running zVM 5.2 first-level and you have minidisk cache
turned on in 1st-level for your 2nd-level SYSRES. See APAR VM63918 / PTF

UM31659.

Symptoms are that VMSECURE fails to initialise (PX107 ABEND). Bypass is t
o
SET SHARED ON for the real pack holding the 2nd-level SYSRES minidisk (or

take some other action that causes the minidisk to become inelegible for

MDC).

It bit me and it must have bitten whoever raised the APAR - hopefully thi
s
note will save it biting a few others.

(Let me point out that VMSECURE's the innocent victim in this - anybody

who's using the same interface will trip over the same problem - it's jus
t
that if you have VMSECURE installed then it's almost-certain that it'll b
e
the first component in your 2nd-level system to try to do this.)

Jeff
