It depends in which way you mean dangerous.
It is not dangerous to the disk because you only get a read link if someone else has a write link. MW is the real dangerous one.
If, however, you code a link you probably want to use M rather than MR. This way, if you cannot get a write link you will fail on the link (obvious) rather than when you first try to write to the disk.
MR is great if you are doing it manually and can see what happens - so you can see who DOES have the write link.
