Hi everyone,
 it's been a very busy week, sorry for the radio silence...

There is a script to view the inside of a mesh, it's a contributed one from 
Simula: vmtkmeshviewer2.
Once it's running, press 'i' to activate the clipping plane, and x to view the 
interior.
