Since the changeover, I note that MIME with multipart/alternative with redundant HTML, various binary attachments, and other annoying noise. I conclude the previous incarnation of the mailing list was sheilding me from this.
Could the new incarnation provide similar relief? Translating from quoted encoding to text, perhaps rendering HTML with lynx, snipping anything with binary encoding, etc, etc, would be very nice. At least, in the digest form. Less of a problem in the undigested list, perhaps, but in digest form, it causes problems. Not the least of which is that the MIME headers are stripped, so the digested messages can't be easily fed to a mime handler in any event.
