She would need to connect her machine and start the server, and tell you by some means the IP number of her machine, which on dialup and some other kinds of connection can change each time the connection is made. You would connect to the IP number and screen number in the normal way. This will only work if the connection allows the running of servers (i.e. does not clobber SYN), and if the machine is on a proper IP number (i.e. not an internal type behind NAT). TightVNC would be better for this than ordinary VNC, of course. I use TightVNC on family and friends' machines so that I do not always have to go to the machine to investigate or fix a problem. -- Phil Reynolds (PGP now available) o ____ Internet: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |L_ \ / Web: http://www.tinsleyviaduct.com/phil/ (_)- \/ Waltham 67, Emley Moor 69, Droitwich 79, Windows 95 _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
