Yeah, the VNC server distro sucks on RH.
Um, I'm using tightvnc and when I run vncserver, I get 
this message:

 New 'X' desktop is "machinename":1

Creating default startup script 
/home/myusername/.vnc/xstartup
Starting applications specified in 
/home/myusername/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /home/myusername/.vnc/mahcinename:1.log

I'm off to the website to check it out, thanks.
