Hey all, I've been using VNC for years and cant understand how I could
have lived without it! But recently I've had this problem: I use my
home computer (HOME1) to view my work computer (WORK) and after about 5
to 20 minutes my system freezes for 15 seconds then works for 3 seconds
then freezes 15 then resumes for 3 . this continues until I restart
(which isn't easy to pull off in 3 second intervals). So basically my
viewing days are over from my HOME1. HOME1 is running XP on an AMD 1
GHz with 512 of RAM. I'm using a linksys router as a switch by plugging
my DSL modem into the uplink port and then my 3 LAN home computers into
ports 2 thru 4. Here's the kicker, when I view WORK from my other home
computer (HOME2) it works fine! HOME2 is running XP with and AMD 1.4
with 256 MB of RAM. I can only assume the problem isn't DSL, but
something on my HOME1 system (perhaps some conflicting software?).
I know this isn't much to go on, but something happened recently that
offered a ray of hope. I recently upgraded to winMX 3.1. WinMX for the
unknown is a file sharing program similar to Napster and Morpheus.
After using the new winmx version for the first time I noticed the SAME
problem- freeze 15 works 3. After a quick search on WInMX's mail serv I
found that changing from primary connection (active) to secondary
connection (passive) fixed the problem awesomely!!!
I am all out of ideas and would love to use VNC conveniently from HOME1
again. Please please please help if you can. Thank you in advance.
Eric
