Thanks for trying, Glenn, but no, using both shift keys with the delete key
didn't work. It still operated as if I just hit the delete key with no
shift key held down.

Is this a known bug, on a list to be fixed, a permanent restriction,
unknown, what? Thanks for any info anyone can send.

Sorry, I meant the <shift>+<whatever_key> pattern works where <whatever_key>
is normally a control key or key combo - hence the cntrl-alt-del scenario.

Basically my theory is the viewer might be confused by the shift key with
del for some reason - I'm thinking it might get "unconfused" if you hit both
shift keys. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Exactly why, I don't
know, I personally haven't taken the source code apart as yet.

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand. How would I send
<shift>-<shift>-del? I'm just holding the shift key and hitting the Delete
key. So when I do that, it doesn't send <shift>-Del? How is that different
from my holding shift and then hitting the 'p' key, thus attempting to type
a capital P? Doesn't it send a capital P?

VNC viewer interprets <shift>-<whatever_key> as the key code to transmit
<whatever_key> to the vnc server - ie, sending <shift>-Cntrl-alt-del to a
Winvnc server should trigger the cntrl-alt-del response on the remote side.
Some keys do work normally, however.

You can try sending <shift>-<shift>-del and see if that works. Otherwise, I
have no suggestions...
