Tried connecting with a vncviewer from my RS/6000 running AIX4.3 and the
built-in AIXWindow server. Same behavior as with the Win32 vncviewer and
web client (I get the password prompt but Xvnc dies shortly thereafter).

No other X servers are running, and no firewall. The display is coming up
as :1 by default.

I tried connecting through the web client, and observed the same behavior as
with the Win32 vncviewer (I get a password prompt, but then Xvnc core dumps
shortly thereafter).

Yup.

I think at this point I'm going to follow one of the other suggestions and
look into the xf4vnc project to see if that gets me anywhere.

Thanks for the help. I'd be happy to hear any other suggestions you may
have.
