So you get the rfb message, hence vncserver is running.

That's a message from vncviewer to say the connection has been established
but it has been closed. This can be due to several reasons:
- no proper server configuration (forgotten password)
- bad password (see below)
- bad combination of encodings (if you somehow configure them)

For bad passwords, I recal reports in the list that if a M$Win machine has
no-one logged in, then the vnc-password for the administrator must be used.
Once a user is logged in, then the vncpassword for that user must be used.
This indicates that both must have a password!

Yes, there are systems that have a better security which administration is
more clear.
