The firewall WAS in fact on, but I had to remove vnc, remove registry entries, reboot, remove the tightvnc folder, and reinstall all after removing the xp firewall option... all is ok now. Thanks, Patrick

Server or client side? I'm assuming server, so here's a possible explanation. You may have the built-in XP firewall running, which will interfere with any connections comming into the box. Go into the Network control panel, and bring up the properties of the connection you are wanting to use. Click on the right-most tab; if there is a check mark beside "Enable Firewall" (or something like that - I"m working from <faulty> memory here) then remove the check mark. You might want to restart the box, but I don't think that should be necessary. - Ricardo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Linley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, June 24, 2002 8:14 AM Subject: Problems with TightVNC in XP PRo > I cannot get tightvnc to work on my XP Pro Installation.
