"Hi I've just downloaded VNC and want to compile it for the windows environment. Just a couple of questions if anyone can please answer them?
1.. Is is possible to just have the server come up without any icons within the tray? 2.. How reliable is VNC, on all platforms? 3.. When operating, how much processor time does it take up? thanks Neil" To answer question #1. I have found it extremely difficult to remove the icon in Win95/98 but in W2K and XP it is very easy. All you have to do is go to the registry and remove the following key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\WinVNC This removes it from running on startup, which is not a problem as long as you install the VNC service. Since Win95/98 doesn't have a service per-say, removing this key does no good. You would have to go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER level and remove the same key, but that prevents it from running at start-up. I hope that this helps.
