How did you get dtwm running properly? The best way I have found is to use
the dhcp protocol: `vncserver -query localhost` (or use the setup at
http://www.sourcecodecorner.com/articles/vnc/linux.asp)

Have you checked the dtwm resources (do they have a maillist/newsgroup?)

I think the problem is somewhere in the middle between dtwm and vnc: vnc is
a Xserver that might lack some additional features that are used by window
managers and applications.
