It's in the documentation (er, somewhere), but:

Briefly, the VNC-protocol connections start at 5900 (if you use the 
client), while the java applet can be reached starting at 5800 (web interface).

I say "starting at" because it depends on what "display number" you have 
set in VNC's properties.  ie, if you were only allowing display 4, you'd 
want to open up 5804 and/or 5904.
